Hey all,

So it probably isn’t necessary for me to say this, but Common Tongue is on pause for the moment. In fact, this may be the end of our little CC music podcast.

I really enjoyed getting my feet wet with podcasting by creating Common Tongue, but I feel like I have other interests that really trump continuing on with this site.

I am going to be writing about music at http://stephwo.wordpress.com and maybe I’ll be working on a different podcast in the future…something more like interviews or a radio play.

I want to thank everyone that tuned in, and hope you will check out whatever I end up doing next.

Hey all,

I know I said not too long ago that this was gonna be a weekly podcast. I also talked about this being an annual podcast as a sad attempt at humor. Anyway, I want you to know that I still wanna keep up with this thing it’s just that I’ve been real busy as of late and now the holidays are among us and I’m not sure when I’m gonna knock out another podcast. So all I can promise you is this.

New Mic!

After years of living in the dark ages with only a Shure SM57 to guide me, I have finally purchased a condenser microphone. AND OH MY GOD! It has made such a huge difference. If my preliminary tests are any indication, there will basically be no annoying static in the next podcast and my voice will be easy to hear, clear as a bell. Yay!

Yeah. We had a good first day out there on the SHOUTcast radio waves. Even got a few listeners. Unfortunately, I feel like in terms of my current setup the whole online radio station thing is more trouble than it’s worth for me right now…

So I’m going back to the old podcast model…serving up mp3′s here on WordPress. Look for the second issue of Common Tongue appearing here at this space…hopefully before the end of the month. Also, I am working on the static issue which is effecting the spoken word part of the podcast and am acquiring some hardware that might help to fix that. So maybe the next podcast will sound better than the first one. Best wishes and all that – SW

After some initial testing, I can proudly say that we are up and running as a SHOUTcast radio station. I will be broadcasting from 9-9 7 EST every day. Tune in for a crazy melange of Creative Commons wonderment. UPDATE: Upon further reflection, I have switched to a 9-7 podcast.

In celebration of Halloween I picked a new layout for the site. Also, I have been working on shifting the podcast over to a SHOUTcast server, and it’s gonna be music-only for a while. You should be able to find it on shoutcast.com under Common Tongue.
